Blackline Solutions provides technical reviews of prescribed fire plans to ensure NWCG compliance, operational clarity, and alignment with land management objectives. Our review process focuses on single burn unit plans up to 100 acres and no more than three fuel models.
We begin with a thorough intake and screening of the submitted document, confirming the presence of essential components such as objectives, fuel model justification, fire behavior predictions, ignition and holding strategies, safety protocols, and operational maps. Each element is evaluated for completeness, formatting, and clarity to support safe and effective implementation.
Our technical evaluation assesses the accuracy of fire behavior modeling, weather parameters, ignition sequencing, and contingency planning. We cross- reference the plan against NWCG PMS 484 standards and Oregon Department of Forestry guidelines, identifying any gaps in smoke management, safety procedures, or staffing requirements.
Deliverables include annotated feedback on the original document and a summary memo outlining compliance issues, operational concerns, and recommended revisions. Blackline Solutions also offers optional follow-up consultations to support plan refinement and approval readiness.
